Prevention

To maximise your performance and prevent injury it is important to better understand the way your foot functions.

Active Health provides you with a step-by-step management plan to help you reduce the risk of injury in the future.

Footwear evaluation and Education

Following your initial assessment you will be given a footwear guide, which provides you with in-depth information on the characteristics of your feet and recommends the most appropriate footwear for your needs. This information can be used to make informed decisions when purchasing footwear and help to minimize the risk of injury to your feet in the future.

Running Assessment

Our podiatrists can examine your running gait using slow-motion video feedback to help identify any biomechanical abnormalities that could lead to injury. Areas that can be identified include running posture, foot contact position, stride length and foot cadence.

Foot & Ankle Strengthening

Our feet are the foundation for the rest of the body & can take a high amount of load during the day. Our feet need to provide shock absorption when we land, stable us on one leg for walking/running and help us to propel forward with each step.

Every tissue in the body (muscle, tendon, bone, fascia, ligament) has a certain capacity. If we apply a load that is greater than the tissues capacity , then there is a risk of injury or pain.

Improving our foot and ankle strength and capacity is key to preventing injury.

Active health can prescribe foot & ankle exercises to improve your capacity to deal with these loads that we apply to our feet daily.

Foot & Ankle Mobility

Each foot contains 33 joints, 26 bones and over 100 muscles, tendons & ligaments that were made to move but can become restricted with modern footwear and in-activity.

Our Podiatrists can provide solutions to restore the natural function of your foot, which is important to maintain balance & proprioception.

Appropriate range of motion of the ankle and big toe joint are essential for everyday walking and activity. We focus on these key areas to improve lower limb stability and prevent injury to surrounding structures.

Assessment of your child’s development

Active Health provides quality care for all members of your family. The growth and development of your children's feet are extremely important in helping prevent problems later in life.

You can rest assured that your child's feet are in good hands. Following a thorough and careful assessment our podiatrist is able to diagnose and treat all paediatric foot and lower leg conditions. We can also assist with the assessment of footwear and provide advice on footwear selection to ensure your child has the best possible fit.
