What is paediatric physiotherapy?

Did you know that physiotherapists can choose to work solely with children under 18 years old? At Active physiotherapy we have three physiotherapist’s who have a special interest in working with children. Children are not mini adults. Whilst many of the principles are the same (strengthening, balance, coordination etc), the treatment approach is fun, developmentally appropriate, family centred and play based. Our physiotherapist’s specialise in treating children who present with developmental, neurological  and musculoskeletal conditions.

For Example;

  • Children with sporting injuries and musculoskeletal issues such as Severs Disease, Osgood Schlatters Disease and scoliosis

  • Children with developmental conditions such as torticollis, plagiocephaly and talipes.

  • Children with disabilities and genetic conditions such as cerebral palsy, down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder and muscular dystrophy. Did you know we are an NDIS accredited practice?

  • Children with respiratory conditions such as cystic fibrosis

  • Babies and children who are slower to meet movement milestones for example rolling, sitting, crawling and walking

  • Children who are clumsy, uncoordinated or have abnormal movement patterns such as toe walking, in toeing or out toeing

Feel free to call and book an appointment with one of our friendly physiotherapists Tahnee, Tayla or Larissa.
