Background
Soph grew up and completed her secondary schooling in Temora. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University in Albury, where she graduated with Honours, and was awarded the APA Award for Academic Excellence. Her research investigated the link between core stability and knee injury prevention in female athletes. During her study in Albury she also worked as Head Trainer for North Albury Football and Netball Club, which gave her invaluable experience in strapping, massage, and management of sports injuries. She has also worked as an independent first aid officer for junior basketball and tennis tournaments in the Albury-Wodonga region. Soph moved to Wagga with her partner Caleb after her study, and soon after they both began working as physiotherapists at Active.
Soph has a particular interest in treating patients with persistent pain, and has recently been awarded a scholarship from the Rural Doctors Network to undertake postgraduate training in pain management through the University of South Australia. She has also been offered a place in the Local Pain Educator program through the Pain Revolution initiative, which aims to improve the skills and delivery of pain management services in regional/rural areas. She also has experience in general sports and musculoskeletal injuries, post-operative and orthopaedic physiotherapy, occupational health / workplace assessments, and runs our prenatal exercise class and assessments. She delivers outreach services to Temora one day per week and is registered to provide WorkCover and NDIS services. Soph conducts athlete screening assessments for the Southern Sports Academy and accompanies teams to sporting events.
